Blogging about Laundry

Let me just say I loathe laundry. Because of the undesireableness of laundry, over the last year or so I have taken steps to minimize the hassle: I now make sure to always have quarters on hand by periodically stopping by the on-campus Wells Fargo at one of their least busy moments, I have gradually bought more clothes so I don't have to do laundry as often, and I have gotten some pretty great collapsable laundry cylinder things from IKEA.

A few months ago I had an epiphany that when I visit Bountiful (my hometown) I could make good use of downtime by doing my laundry there! The detergent is free, the dryer sheets are free, no quarters are needed, oh and no walking up and down three flights of stairs. After doing laundry at home over the Thanksgiving break I wondered if I could make it til Christmas without washing another @$%^& load of laundry. A month later I'm proud to say that I made it--of course, I had to wash socks and underwear once because I only have about two weeks worth of that but I actually have a lot of clothes in general so it was pretty easy.

Wearing the same old clothes week to week can get boring but I found that by doing laundry less often I could diversify my outfits--if not for this noble experiment I definitely would not have worn my Che shirt in the month of December! Anyway, doing laundry at home whenever possible is such a win-win solution to such a lamesauce chore that I thought it worth sharing. Feel free to comment if you have any ideas for making laundry less lame!

If you live in Utah there is only one place you should have been Monday night, April 5th. Silversun Pickups opened for Muse, starting at 7:00 at the E-Center. Muse put on an epic concert, to say to very least.

I went with my brother, Clark who had gotten us tickets for Christmas--the best gift ever, I should add! We arrived late because of traffic and snow (I know can you believe that? On April 5th?) My friend Matt got there on time, and so he saw Silversun Pickups...he said they were amazing.

Clark and I got there at 8:20; about 15 minutes before Muse started playing. It is pretty hard to describe the awesomeness of this concert. Muse started out by playing Uprising from their latest cd. The crowd went into a frenzy. It was so cool. The visuals throughout the concert surpasses anything I had ever seen at concerts. We were on the 11th row, section 20, which meant we on center looking right at Muse on the other end of the stage. Even though we were not that close, we could see everything that was going on because they projected each of the band members' onto three giant screens. On their 3rd song of the night, they opened up a laser show--lasers were going everywhere in different pattern in conjunction with the music. This was the coolest thing ever.

A lot of their music came from their new album, The Resistance, but they did draw on other albums even Origin of Symmetry. They didn't play anything from Showbiz, but because they played so many incredible other songs, it's would be hard to complain.

I couldn't remember all that they had played, but Tuesday I talked to Nathan Honka, a friend from my ward that also went, and that list was what we came up with. It made for an epic concert, and it now makes a great playlist.

They began most of their songs by improvising and then gradually leading into the introduction of whichever song they were playing. This made things interesting, building suspense at the beginning of each song. And their sound was very close to what you would here in their cds, replicating their style of hard rock mixed with classical music and electronica. Muse ended their concert with "Knights of Cydonia" and it was so rad. This was the best concert I have ever been to, without a doubt.
